Microsoft's .NET Platform
During the early announcement of the .NET initiative, Bill Gates said that he was
betting the company on this technology - Good
Bet. That's why I've been developing .NET applications exclusively
since November, 2000.
Over the past several years of client/server database application development, I've
seen the ever-rising cost of creating custom software. Despite the promises of each
new development tool or programming paradigm, in the real world we all know the
cost of creating custom software can be prohibitive.
Even while .NET was still in Beta 2 release, it was already in use on the Web by
several large companies, and thousands of developers like myself. Microsoft's .NET
platform is now in full production. I've been creating ASP.NET web applications
in C# for several years now, and I can honestly say I've never before seen a software
development environment that represents a forward leap quite the magnitude of .NET.
This is just my opinion; but, with that stated, I hope you understand my passion
for programming and especially how I feel about Microsoft's .NET Platform.
